Pulled generator out to check it before the coming freeze in South Texas. I have started this generator about every 6 mo to ensure it works. I always turn them off by turning off gas and letting it run dry, so as to keep gas from going stale inside the carb.
This time it wouldn’t start on gas, starts and runs fine on propane, so I know ignition is good. Pull bowl drain out and it was full of gas, so I know I’m getting fuel. Figured it was the fuel shut off solenoid, so I ordered a new carb. New carb installed and no start. I check solenoid on old carb after it was out and it functioned fine. Assuming no voltage to solenoid, I removed the solenoid from new carb and snipped the plunger off. Still no start. I eventually injected gas down carb as it was trying to start and it fired up, runs and starts fine now. Can’t figure out why it works now after I squirted fuel down it . Therefore I don’t really trust it… Any thoughts on what happened ? Thanks in advance
