I'm close enough to coast to experience outages from hurricanes, along with occasional ice storms, so having a reliable genset is meaningful. I'm a minor electronic hobbyist and my current "wild hair" is figuring out more on the weak-links in inverter modules, and finding a community online with tech knowledge that might end up with ways to diagnose & repair the actual inverter modules.
Right now I've assembled a squad of inverter gens:
Predator 2000's-- a couple from 2017.
Champion 2500

Predator 5000--didn't really want it, but was "As Is" for $450...
