A couple of months back, I pulled my grandfather's old 1968 Miller welder generator out of his shed, it hadn't been used in ages. It has that classic, tough look, and honestly, I didn't know much about it when I got started

After a bit of trial and error, I managed to get the engine running, cleaned the carburetor, drained the old gas, replaced the spark plugs, and did some rewiring. The welder part still worked, but I decided to give it new leads and check everything over

I'm just an amateur when it comes to welding, but let me tell you, this old machine welds smoother than some of the newer models I've tried out. I just wanted to share my experience and say, if you happen to have one of these old beasts, it's definitely worth the effort to get it going. I'll post some pictures soon

That's a very cool story and an impressive restoration! The old Miller machines were built to last a long time. What kind of engine is on that model?

Those vintage Miller engine-driven welders are incredibly durable once they're restored. The smooth arc they produce comes from their straightforward transformer design, which means there's less electronic interference compared to today's inverters. What a great discovery
